Black Pool Vikings is a small, but growing medieval re-enactment group portraying the life of Scandinavian peoples during the years 850 C.E to 950 C.E, both at war and at home. Our group is historically based around the lives of the inhabitants of Viking Dyflin (meaning “The Black Pool”), modern day Dublin. We will strive to achieve a historically accurate depiction of life in a Scandinavian settlement through the application of experimental archaeology, exploring the areas of domestic crafts, food, trade, society and martial combat.
While re-enacting Viking life is our mainstay, we endeavour to participate in cross period, multi-group events and activities, from archery competitions to high middle ages foot tournaments and re-enactment of crusader sieges. We have working relationships with many South-East Queensland re-enactment groups and participate in both public and private events such as History Alive (every June), The Abbey Medieval Festival (every July), and The Gathering (Every second Easter). We also attend a myriad of private events hosted by groups where re-enactors meet, learn and refine crafts, fight and build friendships over the shared love of the hobbyWe are currently run out of Brisbane’s western suburbs and Ipswich, with frequent workshops and training nights held in Bellbird Park. Whether you are a re-enactment veteran or simply interested in trying something new, don’t hesitate to contact us, and ask about being involved. Our group is open to all ages.
